This can be called a major revamp of The Owl's Nest. New on board are the Owl's Tools and the Download Section. A horrible display bug with IE6 has been corrected - if you have seen it you know what I mean. The MAIW page has seen major improvements. New are the included airports and that you can sort and filter the table. The FSDeveloper page has been updated to describe the tools from Arno. Little improvements and additions on nearly all other pages.

Happy New Year. I have updated the tutorial on how to use MAIW packages in FSX. It now describes the steps to correct some MAIW installer errors (for FS9 as well) and contains a list of all MAIW textures and effects. Then I have released Version 2.0 of my Propeller Texture Replace Tool.

I have introduced a very cool feature, courtesy of websnapr.com. Their service generates preview thumbnails for links. I have implemented the feature in the MAIW section (hover over the titel links to see the effect) and in both the Referrals section and the News section (all links).

You may wonder why work on the Owl's Nest has stopped during the last two months. This is due to a medical problem which has kept me in hospital. During August MAIW has released unbelievable 18 (eighteen) new exciting packages - a firsttimer for all I know. As usual you can find the detailed package description in the MAIW section of the Owl's Nest. In case you did wonder why the Owl's Nest was not updated during the past month, this was due to my holiday break and some private things I have to do. The Owl's Nest will be back to full operation mid October.

MAIW has release three new exciting packages: The "Hill AFB Complete AI Package", the "Finnish Transports and Trainers Complete AI Package" and the "Export Hawks Part 4B: Bahraini and Kuwaiti Hawks Complete AI Package". The Owl's Nest now features a Great Circle Distance Calculator. You have to provide the ICAO code for both the airport of departure and destination. The distance is calculated in KM, MI and NM.

You can now search for any airport by providing either the name of the city or the airport name or the ICAO or the IATA. The search works with substrings as well.

I realized that an aircraft reference should contain more than just the wingspan and the respective FSX parking spot size. Therefore I have added the year of introduction, the total number built, the crew size, the speed in knots, the range in miles and the ceiling in feet for all 694 aircraft. Your correction of any incorrect data is most appreciated.

The sorting code for the aircraft reference (originally by Mingyi Liu) has first been replaced with a script by Matt (which failed to sort numbers correctly) and finally been replaced with Neil Crosby's solution. The list can now be sorted while it is filtered. The zebra striping has gone to allow faster loading.
